Our Mission

Black Tech Mafia (BTM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that teaches Nashville HIGH SCHOOL juniors and seniors to build real businesses with AI, and to prove what they can do in front of the people who fund, hire, and buy.

Jobs are changing faster than schools. The next generation needs to be able to create income, not just apply for it, and to run more than one business using AI.

Why This Moment Matters

Recruiting, hiring, and freelance work are moving toward demonstrated ability: a working build, a live portfolio, a pitch you can defend. It's not what you know. It's what you can prove.

The students who start building now are the ones who will have something to show. That's exactly who we're here for.

How We Teach

Attention comes first. Our audience absorbs information through social media, music, film, sports, and live events.

BTM uses music, film, and an original mini-series to get attention and build identity, then locks in learning through building, pitching, and defending real work.

The music and film get students in the room. The learning happens when they build, pitch, and defend real work every week, because doing beats watching: a review of 225 STEM studies found students in lecture-only classes were 1.5 times more likely to fail than students in active-learning classes (Freeman et al., PNAS, 2014).

THE TECH CARTEL, the Black Tech Mafia mini-series, follows Ray Arceneaux (BTM Founder), a software developer who gets a mysterious call from someone known only as "The Plug" — sending him on a mission that puts him square in the crosshairs of the FTC (Federal Tech Commission) and Special Agent Mac Debug. Think tech meets the streets. Every episode plants a seed.
