Lead Boldly: A Conversation with
Robert F. Smith
In the streets, "The Connect" is the one with access to the supply. Ray Arceneaux is that for the digital age. As founder of Black Tech Mafia, Ray is the new supplier—but the product is power: technology.
Nashville-raised, father of two, Ray moves with one mission: break generational curses and write a new legacy.
As a child, Ray witnessed his biological father incarcerated for most of his childhood on drug-related charges. His stepfather was locked up for murder. Many weekends were spent visiting both men behind bars. That reality could have written his story for him—but Ray rewrote it.
He holds a BBA and MBA in Finance from Middle Tennessee State University, with 27+ years running through real estate, finance, and tech.
The Spark: 2017. Ray discovered Robert F. Smith's work. That discovery lit the fuse. He pivoted, learned to code at Nashville Software School, and through relentless self-study, mastered the tools of the Fifth Industrial Revolution— AI.
The Full Circle: September 30, 2025. Ray met Mr. Smith face-to-face. Thanked him for not giving up years ago. Asked the question that matters: "How can the Black community use AI to build wealth?"
The Mission: Living by the code "We are best suited to serve the people we once were," Ray launched BTM to arm the next generation with the ultimate weapon: Agentic AI.
He connects youth ages 12–18 to the skills they need to control technology and build their own businesses.
The New Hu$tle is Tech.
